MissionPossible Innovation Hackathon

by in Blog Post November 14, 2019

Recently the Temenos Developers team helped deliver an Innovation hackathon for our Product Engineers based in India. We knew once the idea started to become viral, it would take off, and as the registration numbers began to climb, the event became a runaway success. Temenos Developers worked hand-in-hand with Internal Comms, Human Resources and the Cloud Platform team (a Global effort) to deliver an outstanding event that also helped bring our newest colleagues (see Kony Acquisition) into the Temenos family through some friendly competition and sharing of domain expertise.

Mission Possible 'Hackers' hard at work

Once the internal comms had dropped, the sandboxes began to hum with close to 1000 engineers taking part. We created an internal Yammer group to facilitate cross-site comms & mass-messaging to ensure important event-driven updates were shared to all those taking part.

Ideas flowing through a GUI?

The brief was simple – Teams had 48hrs to build a new product feature or enhancement, to wow our board-level judges. From Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, teams worked over the weekend to brainstorm, troubleshoot, get hold of some one-of-a-kind SWAG and ultimately deliver some exciting, innovative product prototypes (just) in time for the preliminary judging to begin.

The rest, as they say, is history…

Congratulations to all those who took part – the opportunity to move fast and break things should be embraced with open arms in this industry.

It gave me an enormous amount of personal satisfaction to see so many bright minds committed to thinking outside the box and all the teams should celebrate their achievements.

I’m already looking forward to the 2020 event.
